During one week each November thousands of events and competitions in 170 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors, and even investors. Celebrate the entrepreneurial and innovative culture at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University! Be a part of the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who launch startups and bring ideas to life. Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 is a partnership between Pitt’s Big Idea Center and Carnegie Mellon University’s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship.

Starting at a Startup

Have you ever wondered what it is like to work at a startup? Innovation is a buzz word around the city of Pittsburgh and the startup industry is growing exponentially bigger by the day. Join us as we chat with a panel of Pitt and CMU students/recent alumni who each have a unique story for how they got their “start at a startup” and transformed the skills they gained into a viable career path.

SPARK Startup Job Fair
November 14, 2023 (4:00 – 7:00 PM) | Carnegie Mellon University’s Rangos 1, 2, & 3 within CMU’s Cohen University Center
The SPARK Startup Job Fair is a unique opportunity to network with Pittsburgh startups looking to hire full-time and part-time positions, in addition to unpaid internships in sales, marketing, operations, IT, engineering, and more! You will be able to meet with potential employers in-person.

Product Management Development Association (PDMA) Pitch Competition
November 16, 2023 (5:30 – 8:30 PM) | Duquesne University’s Palumbo-Donahue School of Business, 600 Forbes Ave., Rockwell Hall 108, Room 103
Teams from universities across the Pittsburgh region will go head-to-head as they pitch their innovative ideas to an expert panel of judges to compete for prizes. The winning teams will receive monetary prizes as well as access to a variety of resources which are generously donated from local sponsoring companies. Audience members will have the chance to hear team pitches, participate in a live Q&A, and assist in awarding our first “Adoring Audience Award” while our panel of guest judges deliberate.
Participating schools: University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Chatham University, Duquesne University, & Robert Morris University
This year, the University of Pittsburgh will be vying for a “three-peat” clean sweep across the three prize categories of Best Undergraduate Team, Best Graduate Team, and Best in Show!
Who Should Attend: Open to all.
