Join the Big Idea Center as we celebrate women in entrepreneurship for an entire week through virtual content and @pittbigidea social media features! This event is presented in conjunction with the national Women Entrepreneurship Week effort by Montclair State University. 

Throughout the week of October 18 – 22, the Big Idea Center (as part of Pitt’s Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship) will be showcasing a variety of women entrepreneurs from the Pittsburgh region. They will share their unique stories of what it’s like to be a woman in the world of entrepreneurship by discussing the challenges they’ve faced as a female startup founder and what important lessons they’ve learned along the way. Founder, ShowClix & LaneSpotter

Lynsie Campbell is the founder of two tech companies: ShowClix and LaneSpotter. One was acquired. The other, not so much. Lynsie is also a general partner of The Fund Midwest, a seed-stage venture fund investing in the next generation of tech founders. Before tech, Lynsie worked in the entertainment industry doing stints at The Rosie O’Donnell Show in New York City and as a music publicist in Los Angeles. Gaby IsturizGabriela (Gaby) Isturiz

Founder of eBillingHub & Aderant, Partner at Fund XX, & Innovation Advisor at Bryce Catalyst

Gabriela Isturiz (Gaby) is a Partner at the Fund XX, serial entrepreneur, innovator, experienced CEO, and founder of two high-growth successful SaaS technology companies that were ultimately sold to Fortune 500 companies. Gaby possesses a unique combination of passion, curiosity, and discipline, making her one of the few women in STEM who has led bootstrapped companies to successful exits. Gaby was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year, winner of the Business WomenFirst award, CEO of the Year Finalist, Smart 50 Honoree twice, and featured in many legal technology publications. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Gaby earned her MS in Information Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh and her BS in Computer Systems Engineering from the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas.

Blanket & Board is an event planning company co-owned by social workers, Colleen Peddycord and Tierra Thorne. They provide charcuterie boxes and pop-up, luxury picnics in the city of Pittsburgh.Their services include: delivery picnic boxes for DIY picnics, luxury picnics set up in Pittsburgh’s parks, and catering for private events. With the current COVID-19 crisis, Blanket & Board provides a space for people to come together safely to engage in socialization and self-care. As both a female and minority owned business, they also want to create safe spaces where people of all backgrounds can feel welcome, seen, and heard. Apart from Blanket and Board, Colleen and Tierra are social workers working with the various Pittsburgh populations.

Because of their background, Blanket and Board’s mission is to uplift the at-risk populations in the community by highlighting local non-profits and donating a portion of our proceeds to programs that support equality and human rights.

Nadia BoutaouiDr. Nadia Boutaoui, PhD., MBA

Co-Founder & CEO, NanoNares and Innovation Consultant, Michigan State University’s Spartan Innovations

Dr. Nadia Boutaoui, Ph.D., MBA, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer at NanoNares Inc., a life science company developing organ on chips for preclinical drug testing. She is also a consultant for startups with Spartan Innovations at Michigan State University.

Before creating her startup, Dr. Boutaoui worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Massachusetts and Harvard Medical School. She then led a genetics/epigenetics laboratory of respiratory diseases at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Boutaoui is an author or co-author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Boutaoui is committed to translation sciences and moving breakthrough technologies to the market. She holds an executive MBA in healthcare with a graduate certificate in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship. During her executive MBA, she led project NanoNares through multiple business competitions and won 4th place in the 2020 Randall Family Big Idea Competition and 3rd place in the 2020 Kusneski Innovation Cup. Leah CurryLeah Curry

Owner & CEO, Keystone Steel Co.

Leah Curry is the owner of Keystone Steel Co. and Keystone Quarry & Materials, LLC. She also manages the business side of her husband’s company, Curry & Kepple, Inc.. Before jumping into the world of entrepreneurship, Leah obtained her MBA from Katz School of Business and worked in mobile marketing for American Eagle Outfitters.
