What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for an energetic Pitt student to join the team to help accelerate our marketing and outreach efforts, and assist with planning company culture programs! This is an initial volunteer/internship style role with the direct potential to transition into paid project work or commission as we onboard new clients.
This a low stakes opportunity that can easily be done around a school schedule. Additionally, the student can make the experience what they want. If they have a particular skill or idea, we can find a way to put it into action!
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with direct email marketing, local outreach, and content ideas for social media (LinkedIn & Instagram).
- Help brainstorm, design, and plan engaging team building experiences and corporate event concepts.
- Connect with local Pittsburgh startup hubs, tech spaces, and business communities.
Ideal Qualifications:
- A flair for event planning, community building, or hospitality.
- Experience (or interest) working in a corporate, or fast paced business environment.
- Self starter attitude with strong communication skills and a passion for local Pittsburgh business.

Open Call: Advisors for a Pre-spinout Pharmacogenomics Company
We have open calls for a pre-spinout pharmacogenomics company supported by the University of Pittsburgh Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Working directly from human patient brain tissue, we identify disease-modifying drug targets with pharmacogenomic and biomarker annotation, and we license this target intelligence to pharma and biotech. We do not develop or own drugs. Our platform has already validated new druggable targets across multiple independent patient cohorts.
We are opening these as advisory and consulting engagements now, each with a light commitment of up to 3 hours per week, with a path to a formal position as the company incorporates.
1. Bioinformatician, code and pipeline consultant
Scope: provide consultancy across our computational codebase, approximately 5,000 lines of R spanning the engine, the single-nucleus processing pipeline, and the web platform, and help onboard and maintain our Claude API integration for automated interpretation of results.
Education: bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or a related quantitative field; master’s a plus.
Experience: single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq experience, fluent in R and Python (SQL). Comfort with API integration is a plus.
Commitment: up to 3 hours per week.
Path: Lead Bioinformatician on the founding technical team upon incorporation.
2. Pharmacogenomics Advisor
Scope: independently verify and double-check the drug-target and biomarker results the platform produces, and advise on their pharmacogenomic and small-molecule interpretation.
Education: bachelor’s degree in pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related life-science field; master’s a plus.
Experience: hands-on experience with open-source drug annotation engines (for example, PubChem and ClinicalTrials.gov), together with drug development or pharmacogenomics experience.
Commitment: up to 3 hours per week.
Path: Head of Pharmacogenomics upon incorporation.
3. Senior Biostatistician, statistical validation
Scope: independently validate the statistical methodology implemented in our engine for drug and biomarker target annotation, and advise on its robustness and reproducibility.
Education: master’s degree or higher in biostatistics, statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
Experience: senior-level biostatistics expertise, ideally with high-dimensional or single-cell genomics data and with multiple-testing and resampling methods.
Commitment: up to 3 hours per week.
Path: Head of Biostatistics upon incorporation.

Seeking Co-Developer (Supabase/React) for Semi-Finalist Team
Hey, Panthers! I’m Ethan Tran, the founder of Dormcheck. We are a live student-led platform (Dormcheck.com) fixing the “information gap” in Pitt housing with real-world room setups and secure marketplace tools.
We just moved into the Semi-Finals of the Big Idea Competition, and I’m looking for a Co-Developer to help me build out the next phase. I’m doing a lot of the coding myself, but I need a partner to help with the heavy lifting as we scale for the spring housing rush.
