At the Big Idea Center, you don’t just dream. You build. Our Team & Idea Development programs are designed to help you take your concepts from spark to potential startup. Through fast-paced workshops, pitch competitions, and funding opportunities, you’ll learn how to test ideas, form strong teams, and bring your vision to life. Whether you’re just starting to brainstorm or already refining an existing idea, these experiences provide the structure, mentorship, and resources to help you grow and succeed.

Who we serve

University of Pittsburgh undergraduate/graduate students and postdocs of all disciplines are welcome to participate in Big Idea Center offerings throughout the year. No idea is required to get started – just an interest in developing your skillset around innovation and entrepreneurship

Empowering student innovators on Pitt’s campus since 2018

The Big Idea Center for student innovation was established in 2018 with a seed gift of $2,000,000 from Pitt alumnus Bob Randall. The Big Idea Center brings under one roof the numerous educational programs and resources for Pitt undergraduate/graduate students and postdocs from across the university who are interested in hands-on entrepreneurship learning opportunities.
