Kim Garrett
Kim began her career with a bold leap into entrepreneurship as co-founder and CEO of the skincare company Rooted Beauty. She developed a brand strategy and product line that gained significant traction in a competitive industry, ultimately leading to the company’s acquisition by Seventh Generation. Following the acquisition, she continued to manage the brand and expand its proprietary innovations, such as Root 7 Complex, which were later acquired by Unilever and Grove Collaborative.
After this exit, Kim launched a consulting practice, Better Made Brands, and also worked with the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Over the past decade, she has guided clients of all sizes toward new growth opportunities through the development of consumer-driven brand, innovation, and go-to-market strategies.
In addition to her consulting work, Kim has served as a lead mentor for SKU, the nation’s premier CPG accelerator, and is a Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths coach. She is passionate about working with students on entrepreneurial projects, particularly within the Pittsburgh region.
